Bogle

Now Bogle is over for another year there are so many people I need to thank for making it another successful event! We had a total of 26 finishers in the 55-mile ‘Stroll’ and 38 finishing in the 28-mile ‘Ramble’, but everyone who took part ought to be congratulated in what is a gruelling challenge.

What made it even harder this year was the weather as the ‘Strollers’ had to contest with slushy conditions underfoot after all the snowfall earlier in the day. In addition to this, the maximum temperatures for the walk reached only a few degrees above freezing, so every walker should be commended for sticking it out in the chilly March weather!

Raggle and some of our finishers!

The money raised from Bogle continues to pour in, which shouldbogle2 hopefully mean that we top last years’ total of £20,000, which would be fabulous! Organising such a logistical nightmare wouldn’t be possible without the army of volunteers that help out at the various checkpoints along the route, with many of them sacrificing a good night’s sleep. Without their enthusiasm I doubt many walkers would have made it as far along the route, so thanks for their efforts. Additional thanks must go also to the resilient group of Jo, Luke, Megan and Diana as well as all of our drivers who ensured that everything ran smoothly enough! All of them went above and beyond what I could have ever expected and so I’m massively appreciative of the time they have put into the event.

If you’re reading this and feeling intrigued about giving Bogle a go then I thoroughly recommend it. Some of the walkers are probably still feeling a little sore, but I’m sure they would agree with me when I say that it’s a fantastic event. So, although I can’t promise better weather next year, you should still give it a crack!
